Red-hot Spicy Tomato-Onion Chutney - my Paatti's recipe !! slurpppp!!

என் இனிய தமிழ் மக்களே

For a change instead of "card-making" posts, I am posting one of the yummiest spicy tomato-onion chutney which is my பாட்டி's recipe. Atleast I had an interest to prepare and post this recipe in my Blog. I just love this chutney. This chutney can be prepared within 10 mins. Very easy and soooooo tasty.

Tomato-onion chutney will taste really good along with Idli, dosa, அரிசி உப்புமா and also curd rice. I used to eat this with plain rice also :) This can be spread over the dosa to prepare yummy mysore masala dosa or even on sada dosa. It tastes so Yummy!!

This is a great treat for breakfast, supper and also mid-evening.

Okay now for the recipe..

Ingredients:

Tomatoes - 2 nos (medium-sized)
Onion - 2 nos (normal-sized)
Tamarind - 1/4 of small lemon ( paste - 1/2 tsp)
Salt - 1 tsp
Red chillies - 12 oooooopss... (7-8 for non-spicy lovers)
(காய்ந்த மிளகாய் )

For seasoning:
Oil - 4-5 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.

Method:
1. Grind all the above ingredients except salt.

2. In a heavy bottom kadai, I used traditional "இலுப்ப சட்டி", pour oil and mustard seeds. Wait for them to splutter.

3. Now add the mixture and stir well. Close the lid immediately as it will start to spill out.

4, After 5 mins, open the lid and add salt. Stir occasionally.
5. Let it boil for 7-8 mins.

Chutney ready!!!!!!

I have layered this chutney in between the idli batter and cooked (my mom's style), soooooooo tasty you know!!!! Miss you soooooooo much paatti!!  பாட்டி ஞாபகமா இருக்கு!!

Note: This is only for spicy lovers!!

Hope you all enjoyed!!
